Dulas Glamping: Making Glamping Accessible and Multi dog friendly.
The double shepherd hut is on private land with no close near neighbours (we are 300ft, next is 1/2 a mile away) , not heard fireworks in decades, 6ft 3 high fence flush to the ground.
Hafan y mynydd – Our Double shepherd’s hut is located on our upland hill farm. We have 450 acres of private land that surround the hut and where we live, meaning we can move sheep a few fields away out of sight.
The hut is by itself (our house is 300ft away with mature hedge between), with a private driveway fenced at 4ft high, then there are two access gates; one to the ramp in, and one to the firepit area, both gates are over 6ft high.
Inside the hut its open plan, with the front hut being the living, kitchen, large wetroom, and through the archway into the bedroom.
The kitchen has an adjustable worktop perfect for those who are taller or in a wheelchair, the height adjusts from 77-90cm, the worktop has the sink and 2 ring induction hob. There is an under-counter fridge freezer that stands at 85cm tall from the floor, on top of this is the microwave and on top of that is the toaster, toaster is moved to worktop for those who use a wheelchair.
In addition there is a slow cooker, hand blender and automatic tin opener, as well as a whistling kettle on the hob.
The living room has 2x black leather look (drop arms) riser recliners – can almost lay flat for an afternoon snooze, with a view out on to the garden and across to the mountains and valleys.
The hut sits on a sloping field, so most of the garden is below the hut (see photos).
The large wetroom is 9ft x 6ft 4 / 1.93m x 2.8m there is a roll in rainfall shower, with stylish black grab rails throughout, toilet in the middle of the wall, heated towel rail, stool, lowered sink with light up mirror and a touch free bin.
Optional: wash/dry bio-bidet, and shower commode wheelchair if required (free of charge).
The bedroom consists of an electric adjustable kingsize bed, a profiling single bed, and hidden sensory pod bunkbeds – imagine sleeping dens for children/teenagers and young adults, inside they have a single mattress and remote control twinkle LED lights.
At the foot of the kingsize bed is the dog door to assist in night time wees, with direct access to the garden – fences at 6ft 3 high and flush to the ground, it is dog wire fence, and Not deer fencing.
Dogs are allowed everywhere- blankets provided for the chairs (please use them), dogs allowed on beds or in if you prefer, there is a blanket, but dogs are allowed on beds in use without a blanket. Water bowls, toys in the garden, poo bags under the worktop, and a dog bed all in the hut.
We also change check in procedure if your dog(s) are stranger reactive – we can send over written instructions or give you time to put dogs in vans etc whichever makes your dog and you the calmest.

Nearest beach is Ynyslas and Aberdovey, both 20-25mins drive away. Ynyslas we recommend if you don’t want to see any/many other people and dogs.
15-25mins drive away are large areas forest – Dyfi and Hafren.
Walks are from the door too – we are hilly, so good shoes or boots recommended. We have maps and guide books in the hut. Accessible board walk is available in Hafren forest.
10minutes drive from the market town of Machynlleth, with shops, pubs and cafes.
20 mins drive away is corris craft centre both dog friendly and wheelchair accessible.
We have lived here for many years and heard no fireworks.
We are on the offshoot of the mach loop where fighter jets, ospreys, etc from RAF valley Anglesey do fly past, sometimes very low.
We are a working farm, dogs allowed off leads in the enclosed areas, but must be on leads outside, exempt breeds must wear a muzzle outside. Please close your driveway gate, as our livestock has been known to escape.
We have 900 sheep, 42 cattle and 0-30 pigs spread across 650 acres owned (plus 50 acres rented); 450 acres by the hut and 200 on the mountain.
On all our land there are 2 official / used foot/cycle paths: Owain Glyndwr national trail and the Climach-X MTB trails 2 & 3
Closest one to the hut is 50m above it, which is the MounTain Bike trail – this isn’t used frequently. If you ask the majority of our guests, they’d say they never see anyone.
Owain glyndwr is around 1/2 a mile away from the hut at the closest point.
Only months we can’t move livestock away from the hut is mid March to very early May due to lambing time when we need access to all the grass we have. Hut guests are welcome to come cuddle lambs and maybe able to bottlefeed and witness a newborn lamb birth (mid March to mid April).
In late 2024 the garden of the hut will be extended to become twice the size as shown in one of the maps: purple is now, and orange is where it will be extended too.
